Recruiting trail

According to Scouts, Inc., point guard Thierno Niang is considering Providence and UMaine. Niang, who plays at Bridgton Academy, is listed at 6-foot, 175 pounds. According to Scouts, Inc., he's "lightning quick" but "turnover prone at the moment."

Niang, a native of Senegal, attended the Reebok 2009 Eurocamp for prospects last summer.

Providence? Really? Saw this kid play two weeks ago and he didn't impress me at all. He's barely A-East caliber, let alone Big East.

Alexander Harris is by far the best prospect on that Bridgton team.

scorpio do you have any expertise in the matter?

that wasn't meant to be insulting at all, i was just wondering if you had seen other aeast type recruits and if you could compare niang with them.

have you seen indy faithful play, they are rated similarly on NERR??

are either of them worth a scholarship to come play the point at Maine?

JD, no I've only seen very limited prep ball this year. I saw Bridgton play Notre Dame Prep two weeks ago, and Niang got limited time at the point behind Harris. He looked very limited offensively, and just adequate in other parts of the game.

Harris, on the other hand, was a lights-out three-point shooter and decent ballhandler. He would be a top-flight A-East recruit.

I have never seen Indiana Faithful play.

Seen Faithfull many times. He's got a good feel for the game and he's got nice size and a healthy wingspan for a point guard. I could see him being a Mike Trimboli-type of big, physical guard. What I haven't seen is a reliable jump shot. And it seems lateral quickness on defense would be an ongoing issue. Of course, only seen him against weak Maine H.S. competition.
