Mr. Rogers coming to Maine

Andrew Rogers, a 5-9 point guard from Archbishop Ryan High School in Philadelphia, has announced his intention to attend the University of Maine.

He joins an incoming recruiting class that includes:
6-foot combo guard Doran Mitchell (St. Thomas More);
6-3 guard Gerald McLemore (San Diego/Worcester Academy);
6-5 forward/guard Jon McAllian (Bangor HS);
6-9 forward/center Svetoslav Chetinov (MCI);
and 5-9 guard Ryan Martin (Maranacook HS).

I have not seen anybody in this Maine recruiting class other than Doran Mitchell(who could score on anybody in high school) but on paper....this class looks very impressive. Maine fans must be very excited at the prospects coming in.

Much to my dismay I don't see Allen Ledbetter's name on this list. The only 2 kids I've seen are the Maine kids. Personally, I think Ryan Martin could be a suprise. It may take him a season or 2 to adjust to the college game, but Martin has the skill set to develop into an America East point guard. He has improved his strength, and I think he could really harass some opposing point guards on defense. This kid plays with a fire in his belly that a few of his teammates need. McAllian, needs to get a lot stronger to carve out a role with Maine. It wouldn't be a bad idea to redshirt him? In the future, he could find a niche as a spot up shooter off the bench. I don't see him as potential starter, though he is more athletic than one might think. It will be interesting to see what Mitchell and McLemore bring to the table. There should be a heated competition for minutes in the backcourt at least. I hope Chetinov is not another Ollie Ahvennimi and can actually move his feet and score.
